Cleary Residence

Located along the banks of the Big Hole River in Southwest Montana just East of the Continental Divide, this project seeks to capture the grandeur of the surrounding topography.  The structure sits among willows and cottonwoods in a wide river bottom with views of the Pioneer Mountains to the West.  The lush river bottom landscape is contrasted with the dry surrounding hills vegetated with sparse sage and juniper.  The local site conditions were a catalyst for the subdued color palette, rustic material choices, and a floor plan that allows a maximum amount of natural light and views into the spaces.  Warm buckskin plaster, reclaimed hewn beams, barn wood and fieldstone anchor this structure in its environment.
